Disclosure to Third Parties

We occasionally share personal information (e.g., contact details, donation history, and demographic data) with select third parties for valuable consideration. This allows the Community College for Professional Development and similar non-profit organizations to identify others like you who are interested in partnering with us to support children and their families. Additionally, we disclose information under the following circumstances:

  1. Community College for Professional Development Entities: We share information with other affiliated entities primarily to maintain communication with our donors and the communities they support.
  2. With Your Consent: We may ask if you’d like us to share your information with other unaffiliated third parties not covered in this policy.
  3. Legal and Compliance: We may disclose information in response to subpoenas, warrants, court orders, or other legal processes, or to comply with relevant laws. We may also share your information to establish or exercise our rights, defend against legal claims, investigate or prevent potential illegal activities, suspected fraud, or violations of our policies, or to ensure safety and security.
  4. Public Platforms: Some of our websites offer public forums for comments or reviews. Information you post in these areas may be publicly accessible.
  5. Service Providers: We share your information with third-party service providers who assist us in website administration, conducting surveys, providing technical support, performing analytics, improving services, facilitating events, and processing payments.

Data Retention

We retain personal information, including sensitive data, for as long as necessary to advance the mission of the Community College for Professional Development, comply with legal obligations, or protect our or others’ interests. Factors we consider include:

  • Mission Advancement: The necessity of the data to fulfill our mission.
  • Purpose of Data Use: The feature or service for which the data is used and how it operates.
  • Legal Obligations: The retention period required to comply with legal and regulatory obligations.
  • Other Legitimate Purposes: The need to prevent harm, investigate violations of our terms or policies, ensure safety, security, and integrity, or protect our rights, property, or services.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Like most websites, our servers use “cookies” to track user activity and record IP addresses. A cookie is a small data file stored on your computer, containing a unique identifier that helps us recognize you on future visits. The recorded IP address identifies the domain you visited from but does not capture your email address or other personal information. To opt out of this data collection, refer to the “Submitting a Request to Exercise Your Rights” section below. We use the collected information to:

  • Server Management: Diagnose issues with our servers and improve website administration.
  • Demographics: Understand the geographic location of our visitors and their behavior on our site.
  • Targeted Advertising: Use the data for targeted advertising, marketing, and fundraising through various channels such as email and direct mail.

We also use add-on services like Google Analytics to collect information about site usage. Google Analytics records data such as how often users visit the site, what pages they view, and what sites referred them to us. Google Analytics does not collect personal identification information like names. The data collected is used exclusively by Google under their privacy policy, and you can prevent tracking by disabling cookies.

We may use third-party service providers to serve advertisements or implement cross-channel communications. These providers may collect non-personally identifiable information about your interactions with us. This privacy policy does not cover the methods or use of information by these vendors, who have their own privacy policies. To opt out, visit the Network Advertising Initiative’s opt-out page or refer to the “Submitting a Request to Exercise Your Rights” section below.

When you provide information through our securely encrypted forms, such as making a donation, we collect your contact details, unique identifiers, and financial information. This information is used to process donations, provide receipts, and maintain donor records. Your contact details may also be used for customer service. Users can opt out of receiving future communications by following the instructions in the “opt out” section below.

Online Data Security

All forms on our website requesting confidential information, such as credit card numbers, use the “Transport Layer Security” (TLS) protocol. This technology, combined with encryption and tokenization, ensures that your credit card transactions are as safe as possible.

TLS-secured URLs are certified by trusted authorities like Thawte and always begin with “https://” instead of “http://”. Browsers that recognize TLS will display a message or a lock symbol indicating that you are on a secure page. Information entered on these pages is encrypted in your browser, sent over the Internet in encrypted form, and decrypted on our servers. If your browser does not support TLS, you will receive an error message when attempting to access our secure pages.

Your Data Privacy Rights

Depending on your location and subject to certain exceptions, you may have the following rights:

  • Right to Access: Request information about the personal data we collect, use, or disclose.
  • Right to Portability: Obtain your personal data in a portable and readily usable electronic format.
  • Right to Correction: Request corrections to inaccurate personal information.
  • Right to Deletion: Request deletion of your personal information.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination: Not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights.
  • Right to Opt-Out: Opt-out of targeted advertising and sharing of personal data.
  • Right to Appeal: Appeal any decisions made by the Community College for Professional Development regarding your requests.
